Upstairs tenant left their water running, flooding their kitchen and destroying our laundry room below. Huge damage extending even down to the basement, so many walls, floors and ceilings need replacing. So stressed out I didn't sleep a wink last night, what a great start to the week.

Ugh, I hope your landlord knows it wasn’t your fault and you can claim?

We actually own the building and rent out the upstairs apartment, so we're the ones that have to deal with it x.x

Oh man. I had this happen once. I heard a noise and it turned out to be water pouring out of every light fixture. So sorry. I hope the claim is swift.

I hope so also. As much as I am really upset about the situation I can say several things that could have been much worse. For one, the ceiling came down as I was going to lock up for the night, if it had happened a minute later I wouldn't have heard it and the water would have been rushing so much longer.

Also, the rooms which were damaged were the smallest rooms in the house, and in the corner. It didn't spread horizontally much at all, so the damage is somewhat contained.

Also, nobody was hurt, always a bonus.
