just wrapping my head around the fact that my dad could've died yesterday. If he didn't have a follow up appointment for his foot, we wouldn't have tried to wake him up in the morning and he would have fallen into a coma..... (unsure)

ask his doctor about glucagon. it's for emergencies like this. it's basically an injected shot of sugar to quickly normalize sugar levels. it's made for when someone gets a bad hypo episode and can't wake up to drink sweet stuff.

it would also be good to set like a basic routine? if he can, so everyone in the house knows when he usually wakes up/eats/bathes etc.. easier to notice if something is amiss. cos sometimes the diabetic can't feel anything. they just suddenly collapse.

(with hypo normally you should feel shaky and weak, but if youve had diabetes long enough sometimes that is dulled down to the point you feel nothing)

madugongmaria: thanks for the advice, I will try to talk to my family about this. We are trying to make sure he eats after he takes his insulin, because he sometimes just goes back to sleep
