i love where i work, or did for a while, but management has been dragged into something called Traction which, from what little they've leaked about it, feels to me like some kind of fuckin corporate cult
two people i've liked have been fired as a result of not fitting their new "core values"
and while they've been going around saying "patients first," what i've been hearing in the twice-monthly meeting has been increasingly sounding like "patients' wallets first" and i am fuckin not about that
dammit, jim, i'm an optician, not a salesperson
one of my fellow opticians just gave her notice for that very reason
and that's sparked me into action
i'm looking into different fields because i'm tired of being expected to empty wallets
i'm interviewing on tuesday for a position as a dental receptionist
and i talked on the phone tonight about a position as finance/payroll coordinator at a law firm that, among other things, represents multiple indigenous american tribes
cacopheny that last job sounds kind of similar to what you do, and btw don't worry i will make it clear to any potential new employer that our visit is non-negotiable
also if yuo get me a desc of this position and I'll tell you what you'll be expected to do probably?
also also, apply everywhere. for anything. even if you are clearly not qualified. smaller places will take you if they think you'll work hard and be smart, even if they need to train yo
my current place I was SO not qualified but they saw past that to me, and wanted that
https://www.indeed.com/.... hope that works. the person i spoke with also described the position as being a bridge between financial and HR, as well as a sort of assistant to both division heads?? i will obvs be requiring commensurate pay for such work
i am spamming so many applications, dude. does it pay reasonably well? could i probably do it and not hate my life? hello, here is my resume, let's talk
yep looks like a payroll position mainly. you'd be updating records, tracking down W9s and shit, and doing weekly payroll. which can be pretty complicated and will have a LOT of excel shit. be ready for lots of data sorting and importing and formatting
not a bad position, though. hell, there are indeed some things on there I actually do, like timecards and time reports (I do not do payroll directly, though I have had some training in it a few years back)
