just got back from a quick one night trip with Teej down to Cape Perpetual that was the most amazing time, gonna slap some pictures etc down in here
Spouting Horn
Perpetua* thanks autocorrect
holy geez that's gorgeous
so we just kept the window open even when we went to bed; the sound of the water was incredible, 0 difference to being out at sea, the roar was exactly how I remember it
blisters it seriously is! I didn't know what to expect at all from the area but damn did it exceed all my assumptions lol
next day we slept in, packed up, and went to a place called Thor's Well just up the coast in Cape Perpetua (gestures to vids etc)
the well is a huge hole in the rock formations on the shore where tidal water slides in and pops out, and at first we thought low tide was going to be
that's gorgeous... making a note to myself to go there someday
it's seriously worth the trip
there's also this spot right next to it called the Spouting Horn for the way waves rush in and pop against the narrow tip of the shore split
we clambered off path to get right next to both but as soon as I started noticing the tide rolling back in, we retreated back onto the trail paths again
meanwhile there was one dude still right on top of the Well taking photos and we were watching him like
(the way he just flinches had us like oh good he knows it's time to g- MAN CONTINUES STANDING THERE FOR THE NEXT 4 MINS)
(he was fine tho, just nervewracking 2 watch from on high)
(it IS I could've stayed there all day watching tbh)
after that we went to the local aquarium which, man, I love small town public spots, they give 0 fucks about everything so long as you're not hurting anyone: they had these giant rock formations made out of cement surrounding different exhibits and popping up out of the ground at random, and anywhere else there'd be hard limits on hey don't stand on those
you could hurt yourself (fair and legit, you really could)
except here everyone was like mountain goats, staff included
during a demonstration the narrator climbed up to the top of one of the cliffs to talk about an animal feeding
together we all looked like mfing pride rock
(every aquarium should have a fish tunnel imo)
from a remote distance (but also Dory tho)
after that we snagged some food from an amazing local fish place (which lorde the food itself was incredible ,but I was kind of thrown by how none of the local sauces had flavor, it was all ketchup or mayo and god help you if you want some tartness or heat), saw a stray cat and hit the road to come home
10000/10 trip, it was such a blast to vibe w Teej and get to see everything down there
I looked it up and it was a fish market that also served seafood running out of basically a shack, and I was like WE'RE GOING HERE
sure enough there was a line and everyone was walking out with either big bags of raw fish or multiple containers of food
but boy howdy was it hoppin'
also don't forget this one
lmf how could I ever forget
this was the daylight view from the hotel window
anyway yeah definitely needs a second trip bc i so badly want to rent one of the places on Gender Drive
LOOK AT THE FISH
oooh love to see all these pictures!
omg this looks amazing aaaaaaaa
omg this is all so stunning
