Hi plurk. I know I haven't been around much (read: at all) over the last idk month or so? So I'mma dump some shit in here and try to explain the State of the Cuyler
latest #51
First and foremost. I know it's no excuse but it's been a little over a year since my computer died and I got the POS Walmart BTS (back-to-school, not the kpop guys) special I have now. The game I used to play with my wife a lot? never ran functionally on this comp because it's super unoptimized. So the same weekend we got 3 Hoes Ark was free and
being able to game with my wife again? in a game that is all the survival base building shit we love plus taming and breeding dinos?
It's a fucking problem

Especially cause you can only have one save so whenever she wants to play its on our joint save and I inevitably end up joining her
so like... that's a good 100 hours of the last like 3 weeks negl
but in addition to that things have been.... problematic (again) financially. I know, no one is surprised. I feel like a broken record (among other broken things haaaaa)
The state was dicking us around about wife's unemployment for a good long while and then when it finally came through? it was......... like half of what we were expecting it to be?
so instead of 270 a week it's 280 every other week and that's not going to catch us up with the hotel at all
so I've been stressing about that, going back and forth with the disability lawyers, doctor appts, wife's had a few procedures. We spent a week with the niece from for 12 hours a day because her camp didn't meet the week of the 4th
now niece and her fam are on a cruise and I've been over here all week dog sitting. And... cleaning their house because I cannot bear it in here without cleaning.
and I know it's a lot to ask but I can't help thinking that maybe...... maybe we should talk to them about.... staying with them more long term
like until the new year or something so we can actually save up some money to be able to do fucking anything

this is a 3 bedroom house that currently has 4 (ish) people in it? I say "ish" because there's Niece (L), her mom (M- my bff), her dad (J), and another of our close friends (N). Well M is going into her last year of Vet school. And works and takes care of L (who will be 7 next week)
So she's gone a good 8-15 hours a day
and N just finished getting his cert for trucking so he's home for a week then on the road for 6
and J has almost as many health problems as Wife and I
which..... is honestly how the house has gotten so trashed that and M's mom was a hoarder so she never learned to organize or clean up after herself and stuff and she struggles with that a lot but with all the other shit on her plate she can't really work on it

honestly J and L kinda need in home care and M and N can't provide it with their jobs
L also has some learning disabilities so she's still not good with being able to clean up yet either and M is in no position to teach/reinforce that.
so I honestly think it could be better for everyone if like... Wife and I functioned as nanny/maid for the household?
it would save us money, it would save them money on childcare, it would help L learn more discipline, it would let M study more effectively and give her a goddamn break, the list goes on

the main issue is room
it's just a matter of figuring out space and if they would be willing to make those sacrifices
but I also know it would be more stressful on us like... emotionally? because L is a handful and there's so much dog and the state of the house is..... a lot
but if we were here consistently to maintain it and not like.... what we're doing now? with the trying to scrub off 2 years worth of fur and child off the floor and counters

we would HAVE to have our own space
I don't think it would be so bad??? but like this is the contention point that made M and I break up way back when

you and ains would go crazy otherwise
but what I'm thinking is..... the basement is like... laundry and comp/gaming space. But there's a small closed off area for mechanical stuff and storage. It's not ideal by any means but it could functionally be a room for Jess and keep the cat confined in the basement. (which would be safer for her anyway re: dogs
(Jess you'd set up your comp in the main gaming area anyway and J's comp is upstairs so he's not down there as much)

and with my sleep schedual itd be best to have my own sapce... sadly you'd have to swap to my schedual again tho
since N is only home one week every 2 months? see if he'd let us steal his room.... and just... reconfigure things on his weeks home (probably with Wife and I bumming around the basement for that week)

yeah that would make the most sense

as long as the cat isn't in there it wouldn't be difficult
As far as your schedule goes, Jess. if it's going to be a thing it's something I'll just have to deal with or we can see if the Frandor location is part of your boss' network

and without rent if that means cutting hours that isn't AS big of a issue as it could be

I doubt we could get a loan 8|a
and I'm sure we'll be paying some rent but like.... with the built in nanny and cleaning service theoretically not a whole lot >>

As hard as it might be, it might be a good idea. Plus I know how much you love those games and they are wonderful destressers. You need it, so don't be so hard on yourself about it.
