the premise of the movie, which is actually pretty good so far, is that there's a new street drug called power which gives people random superpowers for exactly five minutes. you always get the same power, but the first pill is a roll of the dice, bc you could end up with a fatal power. like the power to spontaneously explode, for example

so the rogue cop rolled his dice in hopes of getting a power that would help him help people and got invulnerability. for using this to end a hostage situation with zero civilian casualties, he has been fired

but even in fiction, good cops are not allowed i guess
