SL is using unicode for text, so people just combed through the whole 65535 or something characters in the unicode tables and got out all the interesting stuff like hearts and squares.

I've got all of those - but these look more like actual emoji 💕 etc etc

I'll screen shot the next one I see

I think they also part of the unicode table, you just need to find it.

Probably a lot of standard emoji got added to that font.
