Oh, wow, I never would have known it's been years, because it's genuinely quite good!!! All artists meas up faces sometimes. Even professionals go and scribble over or block unsatisfying faces and such.

honestly your original face looked fine, it got across a good expression/emotion. i like it more than the newer one
