Storm damage update: yesterday, when it was still stormy and raining, the plumber was brave enough to go up the roof anyway and fixed it. 5 broken rooftiles, due to debris, huge hole in the roof. Luckily the solarpanels were not hit! So now the walls and ceiling have to dry completely before it can get painted.

We can't paint the ceiling ourselves (4 meters high) so we need a painter. It's all insured, it will cost us 250 euro (deductible excess), that's normal. Am just happy it's not leaking anymore!

Technically the insurance of the neighbours have to pay as it was clear the damage is caused by their rooftiles and bricks of their outwall that landed on our roof, but that will be sorted out by the insurance companies. We have our own insurance to cover it too if needed.

It could have been so much worse, we are lucky. Lives were lost, people got injured, and we only have a messed up wall and ceiling.

I'm glad it stopped. Gonna be a while to get those walls dry enough for them to be worked on though. Are they giving you industrial dryers?

FroukjeHoorenbeek: I hope so, we're waiting for an inspection by the insurance, but as you know...half of the country is requesting those so it can take a few days. For now we've put our Dyson on warm next to the wall.
