Tana had a small stroke tonight but she’s doing ok now
it was scary there for a grip but it seems like she’s making a solid recovery aside from now being a little slow and unbalanced
we think it might’ve been because getting sick put a lot of strain on her body but it’s hard to know for sure

Donna was thankfully with me when she was falling over and unable to function, I’d have been out of my mind otherwise
she’s had little snippets of fits in the past but they’ve been way smaller
thankfully after being monitored for a while she’s bright eyed and responsive again, she can trace movement just fine, is chatty and content and even ate food, etc
she’s still a little slow when walking (think joint stiffness), but overall it seems like she’ll be 100% come morning or maybe later tomorrow, and she hasn’t had any more episodes
aka terrifying in the moment, but absolutely okay now
we still don’t know what caused it, but yeah, possibly just being sick was a lot for her old lady self

just as an update since I finally heard back from the vet: we’ve been at the emergency pet hospital all day and they still have Tana there because she had another episode; they don’t know what’s wrong with her because they’re certain it’s neurological, but the fact that it’s coming and going is concerning and they want to rule out other serious factors
it’s going to take another 2 hours or so to hear anything back for sure, but thanks for sending your thoughts her way rn

perfect childe i am thinking about her even more than usual
so goodish (maybe) news, it’s a little early to say since some of her results won’t be in till tomorrow morning, but her baseline blood and urine look okay, and she isn’t hypertensive beyond just being nervous
no tumors or masses on her belly or chest, and ever since she was brought in she hasn’t had any episodes or slanting
the neurologist that examined her isn’t sure if it’s a: weakness/loss of balance from IVD (it can come on after a stroke, be a result of an ear infection, or cancer etc) or b: lingering weakness from a stroke and her symptoms are presenting too strangely to pinpoint
her eyes aren’t jittering for example like IVD, but her head never shook or slanted like a full on stroke, either
so for now we’re going to take her home (soon I hope, we’re still stuck in the parking lot waiting) and see what the results are tomorrow/ how she does on monitoring
(if things don’t improve or there’s an issue with her results in the morning they’ll want to do an mri to rule out something causing this directly)
so so far so good, fingers crossed

just got a final call from the vet at 10pm (they’re so swamped at the hospital, I feel for them deeply), but Tana’s a super healthy old lady 
even her kidney and thyroid numbers are back down to normal compared to last year
so the prevailing theory is that inflammation/infection from her getting sick might’ve put pressure on her inner ear and caused temporary balance issues, or she did have a stroke but that it simply passed, and she should recover from it without incident
