Bah! He and LL use the JLA's spacecraft to escape to a planet outside the influence of Earth's yellow sun. Problem solved! :-D

read a *lot* of comics as a kid.
sparx104 says

there's a bit of a back story then... i assumed smallville and that lot was all made up just for tv
samiam says
Seriously? I don't watch Smallville. I'll assume that some things were changed for it, but it definitely has history!
sparx104 says

i've never watched it, just seen the odd trailer and know it's about superman as a kid. i never read any comics when i was younger,
sparx104 says

spiderman, superman and all that i only know of from the recent films
samiam says

Damn...
sparx104 says

i've just never been into that sort of thing - superpowers and such - i like my fiction to be based in real science. men flying isn't
samiam says
Think Batman. No superpowers, at all. But some of the best Bronze Age stories in comicdom.
samiam says

Comics were important for me, in terms of learning to draw and tapping the imagination. Hence the "Damn". ;-)
ginajellybean says

i had rainbow comics when i was really little, no proper ones though
sparx104 says

i think comics in general were/are bigger in the states. it certainly seems that way, you don't get comic stores or anything over here
sparx104 says
i liked the new batman films
ginajellybean says

the only one i ever saw was in london, i got some graphic novels fro there once
ginajellybean says
but comics are definitely not big here
samiam says
That when I was a kid, comics were sold in the grocery store, even in a town with a population of 537.
samiam says
They're harder to find, here, now, than they were in the '70s.
sparx104 says
we've nothing like that. aside from a few newspapers all our stores (supermarkets or newsagents) do is women's magazines. and in the
sparx104 says
latter's case; porn.
samiam says
We don't have newsagents. At least not anywhere that I've lived.
samiam wonders
why such limited variety?
ginajellybean says
i've only ever seen porn in kebab shops round here, i bought some on my prom night
sparx104 says
:-o
sparx104 says
we have a dodgy newsagent, 2 sex shops and a video shop which does videos in a "back room".
sparx104 says
i have no idea why there's such a limited amount of stuff about. they complain that kids can't read then dont give them access to anything
sparx104 says
they might want to read
ginajellybean says
...like porn?
samiam says

The Plurk is making me want to fun to the grocer's and pick up a new issue of Mad.
sparx104 says
go on, then we'll let you ;-) is there much reading in porn? i've never read a porn magazine.
samiam says
Depends on which mag... ;-)
sparx104 says
ah, i guess playboy and those trying to be a bit more upmarket would have some. the newsagent just does what looks like very low market...
ginajellybean says
i don't think you're meant to get them for the articles
sparx104 says
i used to read fhm and maxim for the articles. the pics were nice but not the main reason i bought them. told you i was odd.
samiam
doesn't think that's odd.
ginajellybean says
i wouldn't know, maybe all boys do that
sparx104 says
the ones i know don't.
ginajellybean says
maybe you only know pervy ones
sparx104 says
don't think so... the only 2 others who never seemed bothered were devout christians.
samiam thinks

that maybe sparx104 is more intellectually-oriented than visually-oriented?
sparx104 says
it does seem that way. and not just visually
