it's very much a love letter to Beebop both aesthetically and narratively, with some additional elements of Planetes

basically in the way that Sweet Home was a homage to horror video games, Space Sweepers is a homage to Scifi Anime

while also being a solid story in it's own right

Space Sweepers also did something I thought was pretty clever by having the "universal translators" work for the characters, but not the audience. So you'd have scenes of someone speaking in Korean to another character speaking in English (or Russian or what not)

with the context that they can fluently understand each other even though neither knows the other's language

ohh

it's REALLY good
