It's disorienting...but I also haven't actually had a conversation with my mom in over ayear

she's been almost entirely non-verbal, only really saying "okay" and "yes" and occasionally getting more out or talking in her sleep

but now she's just...talking. Sometimes it's just counting. Random numbers. Sometimes it's repeating the same word over and over like a record skipping. but it's actual talking

I don't know if she thinks she's hostessing or organizing something for work, but I'm just acting like she is and talking with her about it and....I dunno if this is more just comforting for me, but it's nice

I also got her to eat a tiny bite of a reeses peanut butter cup

The second bite didn't go great, but I'm glad I can still give her something sweet

disorienting sounds like a good word for it

today really has been a comfort. this is the first time I've been able to actually talk with her in a year

I've missed her so much
