Also having mixed feelings about the conclusion of 456's character arc. Initially I was happy that he didn't adopt that kid, because he had a lot of damage to fix with his daughter, and that he was going to America to see her. I'm having conflicting feelings about whether I like or hate that his trauma wound up taking him on a self destructive path instead.
I like the idea that he's in this ptsd catch 22, that if he moves on he's doing what the organizers want and he wants to fight back, but despite that he needs to fucking heal. BUT YOUR FUCKING DAUGHTER MAN COME ON DO THAT SHIT AFTER YOU VISIT HER.
Anyway I'm posting this on hopes of counterpoints regarding the finale because I loved the show so much, I'm upset that I didn't find the ending more fulfilling. Or is that the point?
I saw a comment elsewhere about how having 001 be an insider cheapened so much of the experience, both for the characters and the viewers, and I do feel like that's very much true. I guess it fits sometimesmurder night ended at his behestbut others, like when he soiled himself before marbles, leave me unhappy.
The whole time we're watching this, it's like man this guy worked away his youth and his happiness and he has nothing to show for it, this is all he has left, but if it wasn't real then...you know, why?
