It's telling that the pet peeve media of the comicsgate right, which draw the most ire for their perceived wokeness, don't actually suit that roll once you sit down and examine them. The Last Jedi wasn't any more feminist than The Force Awakens (or even A New Hope). Revelation features the same characters as He-Man.

Even the "new" Black character in Revelation is actually a minor character from the original show is actually minor character from the 80s cartoon who's been promoted to hero status. Instead what these things have in common is a philosophical statement: your childhood is over. The world isn't a toy commercial and it isn't black and white.
You can get away with POC representation and female leads, you can release Wonder Woman and Space Jam: A New Legacy, as long as you don't commit the one cardinal sin: expecting your viewers to grow up.

(no beef if you actually just have criticism of TLJ or MOTU Revelation or they're just not your thing, like there were things about how TLJ was filmed that I didn't like and I can see how if you were amped by the promos for MOTU you could be disappointed when you got a v different show. I'm specifically discussing media criticism as political theater).
