just things that recommend "cornstarch" and "cornstarch slurry"
D: I didn't know this was a thing and now I'm cringing out of my skin
who would suggest eating oobleck??
apparently it's ... an alternative to adding flour for thickener?
It's a way to thicken things slightly--like in egg drop soup, for the texture.
but broccoli cheddar and potato?
I mean yeah a little bit, but cornstarch slurry??
that should already be plenty starchy from the taters!
yeah I made potato bacon soup without it and was like sour cream?
not a ton, but it thickens
it doesn't need to be in everything
she says, as she puts garlic cloves in everything.
so same concept applied to the broccoli cheese
It wasn't really cheddar cause I used diff cheese
like I get it is an ALTERNATIVE but ... it doesn't' need to be everything. /rant
I've had this rant re; rolled oats/instant oats/chopped oats in chocolate chip cookies
it depends on how you like them? I think? what works better do you think? It's been a minute since I was like THIS IS WRONG when it came to cooking
I think my ire at that point was that nine out of ten recipes I'd found called for them as a mandatory non-optional ingredient
and at least two recipes required a food processor to grind them with first
that sounds like a lot of work
also I'm pretty sure rolled/chopped are more expense than just regular quick/instant?
I don't think it matters?
it's more the butter and egg quota
probably? But I don't like the texture and was getting increasingly frustrated at the time
I personally don't think oats belong in chocolate chip
but then I like chewy, soft melty cookies
that too, they have their own cookie, they need to stop invading mine
crispy edges, chewy middles
chocolate chip be finicky
