Today on life with kiddo: draconic is playing FFXIV running a trust dungeon on Bard. Out of nowhere, unprompted: Kiddo: Pew pew pew! Pew pew, pew pew pew!
Yeah, my mastery of BLM amounts to some combination of "do the basic keep Enochian going stuff with the finishers", "try to do something productive with Triplecast when it's up", and "idek when to use Thunder, guess I'll throw one in during ice because I'm assuming they wouldn't give you a spell that was never good to use".
Yeah, I checked out a guide after saying that earlier and that seems to be the answer. Like I have it pretty well ingrained that you keep your dots up at all times barring cases where the thing is going to die/invuln very soon, but with BLM I was never sure because the game doesn't do a good job explaining exactly how much of a boost Astral Fire gives you.
So my usual tactic of "look at potencies, calculate the total for a skill that applies a dot and compare it to what else you could be doing" doesn't really work there, and I've never run anything hardcore enough on it to bother to check.
