we need new medications for COVID so badly

for the sickest people, we've just hit the wall with treatments and there's nothing left for people who have been on ventilators a long time with severe disease

we just keep throwing steroids at them trying to make any dent in the massive inflammation they suffer from and more often than not it does nothing

we have someone code almost every day

people need to keep wearing their masks and washing their hands, especially with the holidays going on

the vaccine won't fix this for a while and it won't do anything for people who are already sick

we're also seeing a lot of people clotting from COVID bc it causes your blood to clot more easily, so folks will come in with strokes and lung clots that are secondary to COVID

it's more than just a pneumonia

we have pts btwn 30-60 years old also getting really, really sick

had a guy in his 30s code twice last week

and the ventilators are not benign

any time you put anyone on a ventilator you WILL do damage to their lungs - that's why it's an extreme measure and not some casual treatment

it's hard to get people back off of it

so please please be safe
