In the latest "new-kitten-rearrange-your-whole-life" news, my l'il Marsie nearly garotted himself on a string of fairy lights a few nights ago. A timely reminder to be a bit careful with pets and christmas decorations. :-o https://i.gyazo.com/958803b225c66ee4bfd39a4ef7e5e901.jpg

needless to say the fairy lights went back into the box. As did the glass baubles that were hanging on the tree. Bare tree now but at least we won't have any sliced up little paws to worry about.

i have entirely plastic/fabric ornaments that go up on the tree now. wired on with pipe cleaners so fewer of them are cat toys scattered around the room. i have had cats who could be trusted around breakable ornaments....but it wasn't any of these cats!

oh pipe cleaners is a good idea! I have plastic baubles as well but they tend to end up all over the floor so they're also still in the box :-D

i will warn you: they may still end up on the floor. many of the plastic balls can be pulled off the base, and that might happen sometimes as one would lean on them until they came off!

tinsel has never been a thing i trusted ANY of them around, ever

probably. He hasn't been found actually climbing the tree but its one of those wire trees with little lights all over it, not an actual tree. We can't have an actual tree because Thor eats the needles and I'm not sure that's very good for him.

they have mostly lost interest in the tinsel thank goodness. It stops being fun when the novelty wears off.

i have 2 tree climbers BUT i think they may have both grown out of it, it wasn't climbed last year. they always climbed an artificial tree that, thankfully, has been sturdy enough to support them

They are so beautiful!!! I'm glad Marsie is gonna be ok and throw the tinsel away and don't have any it's really bad for them when they eat it...

I have tons of glass ornaments, and my current kitty does not get in the tree at all, but this year I have all plastic ones because I just like them lol.

Awww. Poor baby. I'm glad he's alright! I was so nervous about how our 1 year old would react to the tree this year. We had a small tree put up on a cart he couldn't get up to last year. However, he's been fine. It's my middle child who decided the trunk of the new artificial tree made a really good scratching post, so now the bottom is wrapped in foil!
