it's honestly been pretty exhausting

COVID's rough even when you've "recovered"

a lot of my patients will never function the same again, physically

that's hard to see and

there's a lot of anxiety with us needing to be tested all the time and gearing up every day

my friend just tested positive a few days ago

i get the psychological toll but!!!

yeah and people aren't getting

because of covid like

for example, at one of my clinics, we suspect this guy has a brain thing that can be confirmed with scans

but they don't want to send him out for scans because of COVID

because he also has psych stuff and they can't restrain him and get a mask on him to send him out so

it's a mess

a bunch of like the long-term care places and skilled nursing facilities won't even take COVID patients rn so we have a bunch of them who need care and are in limbo

ah, I mean, like you I am sort of nose-to-the-grindstone, and back on COVID related things, though at least I don't have to contend with patients

I got sidelined from that project when we went into lockdown and I'm a tad butthurt about it but i've clawed my way back to relevance, and I'm carrying my other two projects basically single-handedly and trying to churn out papers from my thesis stuff, and I feel like I never left grad school lmao

Mom (my actual mom) calls me a lot to tell me about her patients and talk about vaccines and stuff though. The caseload in Florida is staggering, and frequently someone comes in and doesn't know they had it or thinks they have something else and there it is on their scans, once again.
