I honestly expected the first game to already go this route and have them team up with the spirits of the old Champions, but for some reason they didn't....

i love the concept of how there were pseudo/newbie 'champions' in each divine beast quest...

but they really needed to go farther with it

But the game ends with the spirits disappearing and 'Ruta suddenly stopped working', so fingers crossed that's where they're taking that plot.

Assuming, y'know, BotW2 doesn't just tear us away from the Hyrule we know and into a totally different alternate/past/future/underground(????) world.
