I was reminded of the plotting/investigations post for Aefenglom in response to a FAQ question, so before I submit something there: Leslie is going to be doing her best to look into the Bright Wall and other anti-Cwyld defences with an eye towards protecting the slums/farms. Is there anyone who would see her working on this and want to get in on it?
Since the investigations post requires listing which character(s) are involved.

She will do this on her own, anyway, but also people might see her with books on architecture as well as Abjuration, which might lead to "hey what are you doing there."
riaxc: He might also be a little more practical than Leslie is going to start out being, because the FAQ answer included that building a bigger Bright Wall would be prohibitively expensive, but Leslie has spent her whole life living with rich nobles and has an idealistic streak.
So she's liable to spend time looking for a way to make a full Bright Wall for quite a while before she properly looks into the practicality of Cwyld-repelling spells to cover at least the outskirts of such places.
I am so down for this. He can be adult chaperone if she wants to go check it out and he can explain the plight of "NO MONEY HONEY" to her
“BUT IT’S A CASE OF HUMAN LIVES!!” Also yeah, having an adult chaperone would be very helpful, because otherwise she’s having to guess at the layout outside of the city by trying to find maps and squinting at the distance from atop the wall.

gsdragono: I thought that Hubert might be interested even just to have more information on how a big part of Aefenglom works, and he's a good source for "here is how you apply the scientific method, small child with a strong research background but none in science" at the very least.

RuddyOwls: She kept up correspondence with Hakuno during the expedition and showed interest in the state of the Wilde since she didn't expect to get to go for a while (and then this month she's going twice but she didn't know it at the time), so that wouldn't be hard to at least get into her head as something that exists.
gsdragono: That would be a really good team-up, because I've been writing Leslie's learning of spells to start off with a better theoretical grasp on things and struggling with the practical, so even while she's spending a lot of this month in gardening lessons and might not learn many spells, she probably will start to get the theory down for abjuration.

Mikasa would be interested cause of her own experience with wall stuff. Not that she understands magic
But Leslie has zero knowledge of walls, so Mikasa would be bringing in something Leslie would be learning completely from scratch.
(It looks like the most likely solution is going to not involve building a wall, but Leslie wants to at least try to find a way to make things more like the Bright Wall in security.)

Leslie has no clue about slums, but she does have very strong feelings about people standing by while others are suffering because "it can't be helped, we can't do anything about it."

Leslie is going to get to explore the slums and outlying farms because she's going to be marched in among a group of people you don't want to mess with whether you're someone who is taking advantage of the lack of legal protections in the slums or a shade.

Leslie has high academic intelligence, but she also has, like, zero knowledge on anything relevant other than I guess magic coming into this, so added expertise on such things is welcome.
This was going to be a small side-gig for Leslie, but I think at this point it's becoming a major character arc. I think I'm going to let people know on the discord about this possibility since I don't have everyone on plurk.
I gathered my current sleepy, vague thoughts on the CR meme so I could let people not on my plurk timeline know. I already have quite the nice group here, but openness and transparency are good.
Intercession: While I was sort of going through the details of the investigation in my head, I thought of one thing Edelgard might get called on to do as well: if anyone bars Leslie from getting access to some records, etc., might she ask Edelgard to use her 2x combo of being a member of the council + having the leadery aura to encourage helpfulness?

Maybe that’s how Emil ends up being tapped for the outskirts investigation! I don’t have CR with Emil yet, but would Soren be like “hey I know this guy who’d be great for the outskirts”?

Excellent! This has become so much bigger than I expected when I was trying to come up with unique questions for my intro top level prompt where Leslie was asking questions about the city.
That is literally where this came from. “Well, Leslie would wonder why, if they say it’s dangerous outside the way, do people have buildings outside it?”
It was a thought on the level of “she doesn’t know what a grocery store is.”
I’m very happy people have been interested in taking it farther than that.
