I mean, okay, admittedly, I am not qualified to make that statement. I have not seen their last support dialogues yet. and yes, I do know about the paired ending they can get. I'm not saying I don't understand WHY people ship it.

but sylvain is garbage and shipping him with felix is garbage because nine times out of ten it's just felix being the deredere to sylvain's incredibly tedious garbage character and I have no time for it

HAHAHA, I should probably make some effort to explain, like, anything? But honestly it's just liberating to be able to just be a jerk about it and not feel too guilty.

I could never say this on twitter because far too many of my friends there are really into it. And they wouldn't shout me down or anything, but I know how rough it can be to unexpectedly stumble into this stuff.

But equally I just. have to see so much Sylvain on my timeline and I think there's even an expectation that Tales fans will obviously like Sylvain because he's so much like Zelos and it drives me so crazy.

I don't really want to write a thesis on why Sylvain Bad Zelos Good (especially because, at the end of the day, I don't think Sylvain is badly written or anything), but the short version is this.

I only go to fe3h through fandom osmosis but axel/saix is, i; fact, a good ship

Both are nobles who have become embittered about the system they were born into, one that placed the value of their birth on something that's completely outside of their control. Both are flirtatious and flippant to cover up their own self-hatred and insecurity.

However, Zelos never ever specifically singles out women as a source of hatred the way Sylvain does. I'm not about to say "hating everyone equally makes you a better person!" or something, but Sylvain is so specifically misogynistic in what he expresses.

And I just can't be doing with it. "I was born into a system where my bloodline is valued above all else; I'm seen as breeding stock to continue a crestline instead of as a human." should lead to a critique of the society, not "and that's why I hate women".
