We'll start with the basic waves before moving on to some more surprising items
X-Men: The first X-wave of 2020 will be celebrating the 25th anniversary of the seminal Age of Apocalypse storyline, featuring Jean Grey, Sunfire, Weapon X, X-Man, Wild Child, Dark Beast, and Morph, with Sugar Man as the horrifying build-a-figure
By the way, the pieces that come with Jean are so huge,
she's the one packaged like a BAF part!
Avengers: The first Avengers 2020 wave will be tying into the Avengers game from Square-Enix, featuring 'Gamerverse'-branded versions of Iron Man, Captain America, and Ms. Marvel (Kamala Khan), as well as comic-style figures of Rage, The Leader, Captain Marvel (Mar-Vell), and Mach-1, with a Gamerverse Abomination BAF
Deadpool: Now a staple for the line, we have another Deadpool wave coming up in 2020. While the entire wave is still to be revealed, we do know that it will include Deadpool (X-Men costume), Sunspot (90s), Warpath (90s), Black Tom Cassidy, and Maverick (Christoph Nord), with Strong Guy (90s) as the BAF
Spider-Man: While no full waves have been announced for ol' Web-Head, he is getting a new 'Vintage-style' wave, inspired by the packaging of the 90s animated series tie-in figures. Shown from this wave include Spider-Man with new, updated articulation; Peter Parker in civilian clothes; and Gwen Stacy with an alternate Mary-Jane head
Riders Series: Only one new reveal for the series of figure-and-vehicle packs, we're getting a Punisher (Modern) with Motorcycle pack. Features an alternate bandaged headsculpt for Frank, and at least one weapon (a baseball bat), as well as the same motorcycle mold that's been used for Ghost Rider and Wolverine
Venom: While we have yet to hear a confirmation on a full wave, Venom is definitely getting some tie-in figures this year. Venomized Spider-Man (Miles Morales) and Gwenom (Spider-Gwen) are coming in a future wave, with Venomized Captain America being a Walmart exclusive, and Monster Venom being a "deluxe" release figure
Some of you may recognize Monster Venom as a redeco and re-release of the BAF from the previous Venom wave. Hasbro seems to be leaning towards more "deluxe"-style releases this year, getting larger (both BAF rereleases and brand-new figures) characters onto shelves without forcing the purchase of an entire wave. We'll see more below.
Store exclusives: Aside from the aforementioned Venomized Cap, we have some upcoming store exclusive figures. Walgreens will be getting Iron Man 2020, while Gamestop will have the Gamerverse Outback Hulk hitting their stores. Target, meanwhile, will be getting a couple exclusives - Red Hulk and Gamerverse Starboost Iron Man
...and beyond: It's currently unknown if any of these figures are part of future waves or exclusive releases of some sort (except two), but further into 2020 we'll be seeing War Machine (90s), Apocalypse (AoA), Old Man Hawkeye, Old Man Logan (with Bruce Banner Jr.), Rogue (X-Men Legacy), Storm (1st Appearance), and Nimrod
Apocalypse and Nimrod are both "deluxe" figures, with Poccy including an alternate head (Nimrod may also have an alternate head, it wasn't made clear). Rhodey will come with an alternate unmasked head, and may have more weapons/effects than shown here. Storm is rumored to be a "deluxe" release, with multiple effects and possibly a flight stand.
Storm is also slated as a Target exclusive. Meanwhile, she, along with Hawkeye and Rogue, will be released with new 'invisible pin' engineering, with the pins in the various joints being entirely internal. They'll be a test run to see if this is a viable engineering choice going forward in the line.
Hail Hydra: Not really a big announcement, but Hasbro is re-releasing the standard Hydra Soldier figure in a single-packed, no-BAF-part box through HasbroPulse, at $15 a figure, for all your army-building needs. Hopefully they'll do this with AIM Beekeepers and SHIELD Operatives, as well.
I'm looking for hope...: In a surprise move that was no doubt made possible by the Fox buyout, Hasbro is releasing a handful of X-Men film franchise figures to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the first film. All will be priced a bit higher than standard releases, suggesting they're "premium" figures, and not part of a full wave
We'll be seeing Wolverine and Mystique from the first film; Wolverine from his solo outing, as an Amazon exclusive; a Professor X and Magneto two-pack, featuring their McAvoy/Fassbender designs, but with alternate Stewart/McKellen heads; a Deadpool 2 two-pack of Deadpool and Negasonic Teenage Warhead; Domino; and Cable as a
And on top of all this, they teased a HasLab crowdfunded Sentinel, though the scale of it has yet to be discussed.
