so last night was my favorite poetry event
and there's this couple who go
the wife is Kara, who runs a storytelling event and is like a "creative coach" and a super beautiful human
her husband is Tony, this ridiculously tall old-school country boy from a Christian background who is kind of....
fumbling his way through the desire to become more progressive and loving and accepting
and he enjoys my performances and has this habit of being like MY FAVORITE BLUE-HAIRED GIRL
so of course, I finally say
and I'm wearing a shirt with they/them on it and have been making an effort to be like OUT in this space
and this beautiful man, this big goofus dummy of a country boy says
SO YOU CAN TEACH ME ABOUT THIS AND I CAN LEARN TO DO IT RIGHT
so now I have a lunch date for Fri for middle eastern food with Mr Country Boy and I am so amused and happy and over the moon about
people who actually want to learn things instead of passing it off as not-their-biz
I messaged Kara last night like "since you weren't here, I drank Tony's wine and made a date with him" lol
but just OMG I love the people in my arts community but a lot of them are kind of "well-meaning but not informed"
and someone actually asking me to talk and wanting to take time and space (and okay I love free food)
made me feel so loved and validated hnnng
Eeeeee
That's so good!
That is absolutely amazing and I'm so happy for you, and good on him!
we need more like him
That’s awesome! If only more people were that open-minded.
;w; this is so wholesome and good
