I laughed very hard last night because, within a period of about 6 hours, I had two people I'm tagging suggest I watch an LP of FE3H and another friend asking me if I was playing an FE3H character, but also my team is losing in what I was going to put on while I grade so I guess here's an lp watching commentary with [FE3H spoilers] for the whole game.

Anyway, this is the LP I settled on because it also has some support conversations in it, so I have resulted in enjoying the adventures of Ken, which is going to be hilarious because my first association is always the doll with the smooth crotch.
I wasn't hugely expecting to take Byleth super seriously since they have no expressions and I know a decent amount of the mysteries behind them, but this will only make it more difficult.
I have to wonder what the response would have been if Ken (okay if I'm going to take this at all seriously I can't call him that) said he was dreaming about a young girl. "Look, keep that to yourself, son."

I'm sure there's a way in which Linhardt saying that he really doesn't care about the usefulness of his research to Edelgard and saying that in times of peace, his crest research will grow less useful to Kenleth makes sense, like maybe that he thinks it will be more difficult to study them if no one is using their crests regularly.
But I'm not interested enough to go through his lines to figure it out.

I recognize this is No One Talks To Each Other: The Game, so this is not exactly an Edelgard-only trait, but we're on Crimson Flower right now so she gets it pointed out at the moment.
And that is entirely true. There's actual reasons behind no one ever talking to each other.
It's actually a kind of impressive balance that the game strikes for me, where I can think of all the ways that everything would be better if people would just...talk with each other, and yet I don't have anyone who I can point to and accuse of holding the idiot ball.

hanneman and manuela are very much not impartial and have their own biases.
(read: if you don't recruit them on blue lions they go all in on the empire because it's their home and hanneman also really believes in the stuff edelgard believes in. they don't show up on silver snow and golden deer if you don't recruit them but presumably the same thing happens)

While I'm going to be up for a while thanks to being a slow grader, I decided to hold off on the last half hour until it's a time when more people are likely to be up, but I wanted to mention that when I was tagging the AU where Leslie was from the kingdom of Faerghis (I see don't see "far-gus" but eventually I'll remember),
and I was thinking that I was giving the kingdom SUCH a bad rap thanks to the Sperados being scummy, but like. Okay, eventually I think it goes a little farther than usual, but between some of the supports in this, reading threads, and listening to my friends playing the game in the background: oh, huh, I guess the kingdom is just Like This.
Granted, Bernadetta demonstrates that awful parents exist everywhere, but there seems to be even more issues with what to do with people who aren't the heirs/don't have crests among the kingdom nobles than elsewhere.
yeah, they need the crests more. the land is harsh and they're always fighting off invasions, so it's very important (from their pov) for an heir to be born with a crest
that being said, there are notably no kingdom native nobles that dip their toes into twsitd. Arundel was from the empire and Cornelia is... we don't even know what she is
twsitd are based in the south of alliance territory, so them mostly focusing in on the alliance and the empire since it's closer to their base makes sense... I'm sure it wouldn't be too hard to convince the right (wrong) noble who had a favorite child they wanted to give a crest to turn over the child who was not favored for experiments, though

I did think about how far away the Kingdom is from the TWSITD (Hubert falls prey to Edie’s “ah, this was nearly a cool acronym” with TWIST’D), but the Sperados have always been overachievers when it comes to being awful people.
(It's probably better for my health that I accidentally fell asleep for a little under 5 hours last night, even if my grading is not getting done in time.)
I haven’t gotten back to the playthrough just yet (I may do so today), but I came across a video with all of the responses to choosing a representative of the White Heron Cup, and I’ve been laughing at 1) even people like Ignatz who beg you to not pick them as representative have their affection go up when you choose them,
“Curse you, professor!” (Dimitri affection up), 2) Hubert frankly sounds like he secretly wants to be representative and is trying to pretend otherwise, 3) I looked up Ingrid’s supports with her female classmates after seeing a number of shippy pictures between Ingrid and various girls, and I had joked to a friend that all of the femme women have
C-B supports of begging Ingrid to let them do her make-up because they think she’s gorgeous, but I knew it wasn’t really true. After all, Ingrid and Mercedes’s support was drinking tea and discussing the demands of the nobility on women...but welp apparently Mercedes cornered Ingrid in her room to work on Ingrid’s make-up for the ball, so I guess it is
all of them who have a support with her.

I intend to watch it eventually! I've heard CF->AM->VW is a good order (I think SS was suggested for before VW??), so whenever I next watch through a playthrough, it'll be AM. But these things are like half a day long, so I don't know when I will get to the end, so I don't mind if you want to share it now, though.
(As a report on who must have been recruited, then on top of the two paired endings I mentioned, Hubert and Shamir kept to themselves, while the paired ends were Raphael and Lysithea, Linhardt and Marianne, Petra and Ashe, Ferdie and Dorothea, and Caspar and Bernadetta.)
It didn't give a full picture of the game, what with it skipping most explore discussions and any level of running around Garreg Mach, for example, and the player didn't follow a guide given the number of unrecruited characters and also the few times that, despite running the Edelgard S-rank, Kenleth gave the wrong answer and she frowned at them.
But it was neat to see anyway.
Now to take a break by watching highlights of someone soloing the game with Bernadetta, which sounds too much fun to pass up.

I had several options for “cutscenes only” on Beagles, but it appears the person I followed last time is the only option for Blions, so I guess that’s what I’m going with.
I don’t expect much difference in the first parts besides less “we did what must be done and fuck the church” and more “honourable comraderie and quiet seething” in the between missions commentary.
I expect that we’re going to romance the lord again, because instead of the further adventures of Kenleth, we’re going in on Cecily...leth.

Blue Lions is a ride, but yeah the part ones are generally pretty similar which is probably the biggest criticism about the game. I do feel like part one feels most relevant to the Lions though
They did go to Faerghus fairly often, that I recall.
I can understand that the part one is going to be much less divergent, but I imagine it's a bit of a pain to people replaying it.
Somehow, I feel like it was probably a greater than one in three chance that the one who the protag almost loses their life to save was the one female lord.
