[cats] I switched out the cats’ dusty clumping litter with pine litter. There are still boxes with the old litter, but the box in my room has the new one. When I returned from the bathroom this morning, one of them peed next to my pillow.
It’s midnight. I’m going to go blot the mattress dry for what I hope will be the last time needed to get the smell out.

Yeah. I'd thought about it, but I guess I dismissed it too quickly. It's been years and they've changed clumping litters before. But I knew this was a bigger difference in texture.
I found one of them also left poop in front of the box.
I brought the old one back.
Closer to my bed, unfortunately, but I didn't want to move the new one back out of where the old box stood.
Belatedly realized that they also aren't used to a door. The new box has one. I've removed it. It doesn't always swing properly anyway—I checked. It's a little stiff. Hopefully that'll do it.
Hopefully. Perhaps mixing the two litters for a while will help?
