so I listened to an audiobook about a solo thru-hike of the Appalachian Trail
HIKING I DO HIKING LET'S PLAN LOTS OF HIKING
and then poked my head into a TN hiking group and was immediately like
"oh actually I know nothing"
also I have camped once in many years and it was on one of those campgrounds where you park your car on your site at a state park
and I'm trying to plot some camping for my vacay week and looking at actual backcountry sites instead!
but hahahaha nooooo ideaaaa what I am doooooing
well yes, all those things! and maybe bear spray I'm told
but lmao there is so much argument over WHICH THINGS ARE NECESSARY
also though I keep going I WANNA DO THIS BIG HIKING TRIP
and then remembering that while my usual walks seem long to other people, they're not really that much mileage for hiking
i am so bad at taking things slooooow
holy shit i got the coolest app
it's called alltrails and it has like TONS OF TRAILS mapped
and it can record your hikes and let you review the trails
I have also never done Real Camping so I have like... zero advice lmao
except check out a scout book from the library just in case
there's so much survival in those things
It sounds like a ton of fun! Just be careful!
But yeah, food, water, sunscreen, bear spray, toilet paper, flashlight, blankets/pillow, definitely phone and charger and a battery pack (in case of an emergency). Maybe a first aid kit if you are able.
