alpha means a more realistic style of custom content, like hair that looks like a real hair texture, and maxis match blends in with the style of the game.

thesimsresource is mostly an alpha site so that was a helpful answer! no worries.

ahhh, yeah. I've been mostly going for more alpha, although there are a few hairs I've grabbed in maxis style simply because I couldn't find the right style otherwise

I've been poking around ModTheSims too, TSR was just my first goto because it was what came up first in my search. plus, a shit ton of cc, ffffft, and I remembered it before I remembered MTS

i mostly use MMFINDS and filter it by the category of the thing i need like long hair or winter clothes.

i have a mix of cc in my game, but i guess i'm more leaning toward maxis match? if only so that it means i need a bit less of it. i'm only on a laptop.

I had Sims 1 actually and I have the complete Sims 2. munchkin is working her way through Sims 3

i only play and make cc for 4, but in my heart of hearts, 2 is still my favorite. i love the fact that it has memories and the neighborhoods all have stories.

2 is the one I have the entirety of and have played the most, which gives it something of an edge for me. but I loved the ability to customize EVERYTHING in 3, omg

I'm honestly very disappointed that they changed that and didn't include it in 4

me too. especially since the swatches they give us in 4 don't even match. like, if you won't let me customise this, at least be tasteful and thoughtful with your preselected colors. ugh.
