'Are there any experiences in your own life that you draw on when writing this character?'

For Takasugi, not really - especially not consciously! He's got some super intense control issues, and I swing that way too, but I try not to directly compare myself or put myself into my characters

I feel like that happens enough without TRYING :sweats:

The most I do for him is take a look at the dumb gross bored hipsters that I knew and hung out with in college and project some of that pretentious mindset/aesthetic onto him in modern settings

Also, when he or anyone else I play is intoxicated, I try to draw from my own sensory experiences with that just to get at better descriptions!

'What do you admire most about this character?'

Takasugi is insanely driven - to the point where it reaches obsession. I admire the goal-oriented drive he has though, he's a very hard and determined worker when he's set his mind to something

I'd rather take a nap - I understand Gintoki on that level LOL

'What do you hate most about this character?'

THIS IS DIFFICULT TO ANSWER - I really like the struggles he deals with, both what he brings on himself and what he's been through

His pettiness, his obsession, all of his mistakes and even what the narritive is doing with him are satisfying

My biggest GRIPE I think is that he just isn't as aggressively derisive as I enjoy playing. I like characters who make smartass quips, and his shit sneer and petty inclinations

open him up to the possibility for that, but he doesn't pursue flinging insults as often as I'd like LOL he'd rather be anti social or too intensely threatening

he can be dragged down to that level but it isnt the default - but hes capable of the word play and the mean spiritedness so balncing it is a challenge

but i DO enjoy that he breaks away from that trope, it makes him stand out as a char of his type

'What’s something you wish more people knew about this character?'

Honestly just his general canon - the setting of Edo with Aliens invading. And his general backstory - that he's a war hero turned terrorist who just is really torn up that his master is dead

alluding to that stuff in tags is fun when i can do it from his vague perspective but i dont ever wanna info dump people WHOP

IN CANON: death lmao

I would also be okay with a handwaved "then he got back on his bullshit with the kiheitai" but with [redacted]'s death that'll be less satisfying than it could have been

ID RATHER HAVE A DEUS EX MACHINA REVIVAL OF SOME DEADASS CHARACTERS HONESTLY just free him of his suffering

anyway in GAMES: I like when hes forced to eventually acknowledge that he still has the capacity to give a shit about people and maybe he doesnt wanna die as badly as he thinks

then he escapes the setting in some way and goes back to canon - resuming from the pt i took him from
