I have some Wound Care news that I've been sitting on since Friday because I don't want to face it. A week ago Friday, everything was looking really good. They had to reschedule my appointment, so I thought that would be fine. Friday night/Saturday morning, the place on my left lower shin that was almost gone reopened with a vengeance.
I called Monday but got no call-back. I called again Tuesday. I admit, I was (am) frustrated. I kind of cried when I was leaving the message. They called me back. I was seen at 2:30 Tuesday. Antibiotics (Cipro) for infection. She ordered a test to check blood circulation on Friday. Got that done. Got results before I left.
I have another appointment this Friday. I also have an arterial ultrasound on my left lower leg before that. They won't have the results of that until next week, though. So. There's that. Depending on what that shows, I'll be referred to a venous specialist where they will decide on medication or surgery (a stent). I've had all this testing done before/
It was ultimately inconclusive. She said there has been some deterioration in circulation, according to Friday's test. And that worries me. I have to admit that I'm kind of scared about it. Between worrying about that. the fatigue from the antibiotic, and the neuropathy in my feet bothering me at night, I haven't been sleeping well.
Two things I'm very grateful for: The pharmacist told me to avoid dairy while taking this antibiotic. I've taken it before but never saw or heard that, so it gave me a horrible upset stomach the whole time. I haven't had any of that this time. Yay! And second, CBD oil helps the neuropathy in addition to helping me sleep. Yay? Yes.
It's just one of those things in the lineup of if it's not one thing, it's another. But in the meantime, it's nothing compared to what you're going through right now.
