[not a FERPA violation] a student asked me a question i'd answered about a dozen times in the tutorials i'd written that were sitting open on their computer, while looking at the screen
i answered the question in a brief way, then said the tutorial offered more information on how to get to that conclusion
i couldn't help but ask, given the situation, "did you... read the tutorial?" to which they answered a solid yes
and i pointed to the lines on the screen that explained what i'd just said asking, "is there something we can put here to make that clearer, or were you just double checking?"
and the response nearly killed me
"oh well, i didn't actually read the tutorial, i just followed the pictures and clicked on the things that had red boxes around them"
this is the future of architecture. stay out of all buildings
