i answered the question in a brief way, then said the tutorial offered more information on how to get to that conclusion

i couldn't help but ask, given the situation, "did you... read the tutorial?" to which they answered a solid yes

and i pointed to the lines on the screen that explained what i'd just said asking, "is there something we can put here to make that clearer, or were you just double checking?"
