Careful mate. The Strat is in a ghetto-esque area.
It's where the "woke up in a bathtub full of ice with no kidneys" story originated.
It's pretty seedy. The fact that the Strat did not take off as expected didn't help.
You're not going to want to use it as a walking hub. Take a taxi out.
effing sun country pulled all their deals
I was planning on taking the trolley and not walking since its so far north
There are always deals to Vegas. I'm sure you'll find another (and hopefully better) deal soon!
circus circus any better?
I have read quite a few reviews talking about how shady the area is, and a bunch about it being just fine.
Not sure what to think, how shady is it, am I in real danger just walking around the place?
Imperial Palace has decent deals, seems like a better location
i've only stayed at the luxor (once) on the strip and it was nice... haven't been to vegas in a year and a half though
Circus is being torn down, but if they haven't started, it is cheap, safe and well located.
It is oooooold though. But the best steakhouse in Vegas is in it, something of an odd juxtaposition.
The Imperial Palace is a total dump. Steer clear of it.
They hold the annual white supremecist gathering there, so I don't like to give them money anyway.
But it is a total shite-hole. Cigarette burned matresses, angry employees, the whole 9 yards.
Haven't been in the Sahara, so I cannot comment.
Excalibur has a lot of good deals, but the rooms are sort of C-. It is well located though.
Do NOT do the dinner show there unless you nerdgasm over bad fantasy theater.
OR... you're really drunk. Like I was. That mitigates a lot of bad acting.
Ultimately, you get what you pay for. What you need to determine is...
How much will you actually use the room? If it's just for sleeping and you won't hang out there...
Then its niceness is not so much of an issue. If you are going to relax, get 8 hours of sleep a night, etc....
Then a nicer place like Luxor or Paris or similar would be the way to go.
When I go with the guys we get cheap rooms on the strip as we are there for 3-4 hours a night, max.
And that's why I know so much about Vegas' seedier strip casinos.
booked in the riviera, from what I can tell its old and run down, i dont really care much, only plan to sleep there
it was cheap when it was more convenient for me to go
spice market buffet
Oh man, there are a gajillion great places to eat in Vegas!
But nothing beats the Peppermill at 4:00 AM for "breakfast" and a final round of drinks served by a stripper working her day job.
Strippers work day jobs? I thought they were just stripping their way through college?
I think they do it for the free waffles.
I love waffles. just sayin
A buddy of mine makes sourdough waffles with some sourdough starter that has been in his family since the 19th century.
They work on it every day to keep the culture going. Dedication has paid off with amazing waffles!
dude, does he share the starter?
He might. He's pretty proud of it. And it really does make the most amazing waffles ever.
I don't even like waffles normally, but these things I would (and have) drive long distances to get.
I love waffles, especially sour-dough. next time you speak, please inquire.
I'll see him in May and will talk to him about it. I don't know if it would survive shipping...
...if I get a recipe for the starter will that be of use to you Dr. A?
hmmm, not sure...the beauty of the starter is it evolves over time. I have heard of people shipping them after freeze drying..hmmmmm
As long as you did it before it got too hot I would think it would be ok with shipping.
