Dodger is best friends with a 6'4 brick wall named Johnny Prince. Dodger saved Johnny from being killed in a street fight (on Augustine's orders, of course) and pulled him into Augustine's gang as payment for it. Johnny sees Dodger as his savior, and idolizes him to the point of having a bit of a crush. Dodger couldn't care less if Johnny lives or dies.
However, Johnny is an important figure in Dodger's life even if he doesn't realize it. Johnny is often the one patching Dodger up after brutal fights, and takes his verbal abuse with a smile and an understanding nod. Johnny believes Dodger is a good person even though he's never really recieved any evidence of it, and Dodger appreciates that.
Without Johnny, Dodger is pretty hollow and tends to blame that on not having Augustine around, even though he is a lot happier without being shoved around.
In Riverview, well, his best friend WAS Cain but right now I'd have to say Dodger's best friend is Ivar. Nothing about their relationship is happy or okay, but Ivar is the one person that Dodger would completely shut down if he lost. He has shut down to some extent after losing very important people, but without Ivar he wouldn't eat and that's huge for him.
Ivar makes him feel like he has a purpose, even if that purpose is just to stay alive long enough to torture him to death, and even Dodger himself is starting to recognize that that's better than absolute apathy toward life.
Letha's best friend is named Marionette Regis. Mary is slim, meek and reserved, and startled by almost everything that comes out of Letha'
s mouth. But she puts up with Letha, and that's really all Letha needs. Letha is quick to protect her and comfort her, but Letha has never really understood that people other than herself have emotional needs so it depends largely on Mary having the courage to ask for help.
Mary also ends up in a mental ward shortly after Letha's death, but that largely has to do with her being coerced by her fiance into helping him kill Letha, soooOOOOO....
I love the idea of Hanzo and Widowmaker being best friends. Hanzo couldn't care less about the huge overarching battle between Talon and Overwatch, but he just admires Widow's apathy and detest for other human beings. Outwardly he pretty much puts on a show of hanging around her because he has nothing better to do, but he really does think she's cool
and he wants her to like him and think that he's cool. It's very high schooly.
Markus has his bromance with Simon and honestly that'
s as heavy handed as everything else in Detroit so I don't really need to go into detail with that.
And at the end of this ramble I'd like to just give a shout out to Bluestar and Peter Quill, the only friendship that ever matters. (I just watched Dr Strange last night so I miss SnowClan)
BLUE! Sunpaw still misses catmom
She misses him too, somewhere in the cosmos! If work and mental stuff wasn't kicking my butt I'd be canon reviewing her ;_;
