I asked my mom is Claire was a family name, since we have so many Chrises and Margarets, and she was like, actually, your grandmother's birth name was Clara, and we were originally going to name you Clara Eve.

But then grandmom's little sister Judy was like, "You really, really don't want to do that." And explained that grandmom had hated the name for years and legally changed her name just to get away from it.

My other grandmother, my Oma, was originally named Eva, but she changed her name to Eve. It's just interesting to me that these two women who never met hated their names so much they tweaked them just so they wouldn't even have to look at their names on legal docs. lol
