Me five minutes ago: Why does my year-old computer mouse have stickers on the bottom?
/removes them, cleans up/out dust and lint stuck in the grooves along the whatevers they were covering

Me now: oh my god why is my mouse moving three times as fast over everything
Why does technology come covered with a transparent film you don't even realize is supposed to be removed?? I had this happen (essentially) with the buttons of my microwave, too! 
I always assumed it was to keep the covered area clean and protected (from smudges, scratches, etc) until item purchased by someone and film removed
Truth, I expect that's the reason as well, but it's such a perfectly transparent film that to not even discover it until you've had the item for a year or more is hilarious to me
Especially now that my mouse is even more super reactive than it was before
