(or play in, mayb, if you've never had the urge to run a game. what a weirdo)
i have like a billion game ideas id like to run knocking around at any given time but i have sworn off modding 4 lyfe
that is probably wise lmao
ive modded like. 5 games or something NEver Again
besides what i'm doing now I really want to run a short-term partner-based game (murdergame was the initial layout but could work as a short-term game for a max of two months) in which everyone has some kind of hidden role that can help or hinder the rest of the group while unraveling the bigger problem at-hand
i) a game set in a Version Of Earth with extremely permeable Window Areas where every character who stumbles thru them is hunted down by a men in black style secret government agency and asked to help deal with more uncontrollable interdimensional leakages while they try to work out how to send them home
ii) worldbuilding sandbox medieval fantasy game where basically everyone adapts elements of their own canon to fit into the basic concept and the setting is a mishmash of different kinds of fantasy nonsense; ive done this a couple times with superhero settings but id really like to do it with an all-encompassing d&d sort of setting too
*AU game, to be clear, with that last one
iii) completely fucking gratuitous monster tf game which indulges all my personal favourite bullshit and transformation is fuelled by Giving In To The Weird Urges Your Specific Monster Comes With
amnesia game where characters can actively work to save or destroy the world they're on and memories are regained by doing trials with different groups of people instead of teams. with a heavy focus on world exploration and traveling to different parts of the world!
iv) westworld inspired AU/pseudo memory loss game where everyones an AI and each character's canon is a previous immersive theme park setting that was imperfectly erased from their memory when they were rewritten to serve a new role in the park the characters are currently in, so regaining memories of their 'canon' self accompanies the horrid realisation
that none of you are 'real people'
this would have to be a bit more heavily sci-fi a setting than westworld itself and idk that the Current park would still be The Old West but yk
the temptation would be to merge this with the medieval fantasy kitchen sink thing but i think for best effect the supposed setting would need to be a lot more simple than that
but a basic d&d style fantasy thing for that would be pretty fun i think?
in terms of the setting and its tropes and cliches being simple and intuitive
these are all good. chinhands
god now im mad that i cant do this
someone else please run the dragonworld mindfuck robot game that i cannot
game where dragons bond with pcs to fight evil, but dragons are also pcs. 50% of characters who enter go in as is, 50% are transformed and have to deal w/ it and you're obligated to pair up with someone by the end of your first month
it's not a premise that's really workable for long in practice, but just, my kingdom for a partner-with-a-monster game where the monster isn't essentially an npc pet you raise
brightwinged omg i had an in depth discussion about a similar idea with a friend..
we did a bunch of worldbuilding and worked out a ton of shit about how it would work ...
id LOVE to play a game like that honestly
yeah the main flaw with it is that you'd have a really hard time keeping the numbers balanced with drops etc
I'm modding a game now but I have a vague idea for what I want to make next... I cannot stop
but i'd love to play in it if someone ever did it and made it work
dragon app queue: | human app queue:
you'd probably get more human apps though
yeah the issue of drops is the main problem really..
Also potential differing activity levels... I feel like in a game like that you'd have to be on top of people just barely making ac on the regular since someone else is relying on them
like obv ideally youd have to yk
i) make it so that not every human player character is a dragon rider
although the opportunity is available to everyone
ii) have dragon/rider pairs not assigned straight at the gate so that you could make sure both involved parties were committed to a certain degree
There'd have to be some ic reason for pairs to break up aside from dropping, too, in case of two players who end up fighting and not being able to work together
Basically just Many Social Problems to solve, moreso than in other rps
god this is so rough because i have like a thousand game ideas but the MAIN one is a silent hill game? but as close to the game experience as i can get; theres been some but they never quite scratch the itch
i love the general plot of the games and the themes they present and think theyd be a blast to explore in rp
i also have wanted to do a general survival horror game but with the appeal being that i'd want every player to get the experience of playing the protag in a ps2 classic survival horror game, with influences from newer stuff too (like outlast for example)
aside from that me and a friend did plan an entire utena based game that was short term and tournament based w a murdergame style schedule
but a lot of things game up and we have been able to do it and likely never will
oh no that sounds great though
YEAH we were super into it but it Happens
In my heart I have always wanted to make a silent hill game happen
But the problem with that is that it requires more attention/dming than dwrp usually does
I think it'd work best as a very small short-term game
Maybe 10-15 people or so?
I also really wish I could get a dressingroom style game running again
But journal roleplay culture has changed a lot and our population is much smaller
I've always thought a game in the Okage world would be cool. Lots of different towns and things with very different setups, generally quirky and fun. Also like, so it's a fake world set up to be like a story where everyone in it has a particular role to fill and the regular npcs can't be anything else. It would be cool to play with that for pcs too?
there's a lot of different ways it could be done and I like them all a lot but SOMEONE ELSE RUN IT PLEASE
