I've managed to add it back in the most Chinese way possible: piracy.
Like, seriously.
The 1.01 patch basically only removed the data from the CN folder in hte data/.../voices path.
So I just renamed the EN folder and made another EN folder with the Mandarin voice files. It's perfect!
And that's a good thing, since the English dub is fucking atrocious. It's worse than Dynasty Warriors 3.
I don't know if the dialogue is stilted because the VAs were trying to WordFit and did it poorly without real voice direction, or if they just can't read English off the page well, because it's really bad.
On the flip side, the Mandarin dub is freaking masterful, and they CVs don't even try to lip sync sometimes because of the huge discrepancy between the Japanese mouth movements and how concise Standard Chinese can be.
Oh, well.
At least I can have fun listening to the game and pretending it's a Chinese period drama.
