as a creator, i am a-ok with it. people who actually want to own those backdrops will still go buy them- and they may see ones they've never seen before there that they then go buy (and i know for a fact that some have!). people who want to take just one throwaway picture would most likely have taken the picture in front of something else instead.

a lot of SL revolves around wanting to OWN a thing, i don't see it actually cutting into sales that much, being able to visit it in a public setting- and it's going to get more eyeballs on the ones there for those who do want to own them, both in blog posts and from visitors to the sim.

It's a great resource and tool, it is excellent advertising and basically a place for all backdrops to be showcased, almost like a hmm, convention hall of them so that people know what is there. I've referred tons of friends there, and seen many do the same - many newcomers who went on to buy backdrops they saw.

I've used it when I can't find what I need on mp as a resell for reasonable. These things can be hard to find, gachas get discontinued and for some reason the backdrops I like all seem to be gacha. It's neat to see what's out there... it's like a catalog.

I'm basically on the positive side for this. We've had free photography studios in the past, half the time bloggers don't even blog the background, it's actually nice to go there and be like "Oh shit, that's where it's from! I'll go and get it." All the stores complaining about it, don't realize that it looks extremely bad on them.

I really appreciate these answers, guys - Allegory it's really awesome to see it from the POV of a maker, too. I like it, personally. And I'm the kinda person who impulsively buys skyboxes that don't have a demo from Gachas. For me it's a great tool.

AlaskaMetro / abrilfride / Dysfunctionality Also agreed. I usually try to pimp sets, but the gachas being discontinued is also a really good point. I know that frustration so well. I am glad people are behind it. A few people I knew in-game were pretty unhappy about it, or thought it was infringing, and I felt a bit out of the pack, in thinking it was ok.

I 100% understand a creator's POV if they're upset that a current, event exclusive is being used at backdrop city during the timeframe when it's showcased at an event. And if a creator doesn't want their backdrop there, I'm sure the backdrop city operator would remove it... I think this just got blown out of proportion when folks got super publicly ranty
