I like story and fun characters over good gameplay if that matters

From what I know that’s not ys but I havent tried to play too many of them.

well... i'm sure you know this but ys games aren't really known for their deep, thought-provoking stories as a heads up.

still, if you're looking for a fun story with not-so-complicated gameplay, i'd start out with memories of celceta or ys seven!

lacrimosa's also probably a great start too for story, but i'd honestly wait for the retranslation first since uh. nisa really did fuck that one up.

But I was in fact in the market for something with a light on plot but enough plot to motivate me to play a game story, if that makes sense? I have too many heavy to digest epics in my backlog

seconding ys seven and celceta! imo i liked seven better but celceta was still pretty fun
