Just a reminder: these are 2-3 hour max "newbie games" of dungeons and dragons - aimed mostly at people who have never played or have only played a little bit, and are wanting to learn in an environment where you won't have to worry about asking questions.
Experienced folks are welcome to come play, too (sometimes it's actually great to have someone with experience on the team), as long as you understand that the goal for these sessions is teaching and having fun, not "winning."
The October ones were a complete blast and I hope people had fun!
WORLD OF DARKNESS GAME ON MY BIRTHDAY HELL YAY
Oooh. This could be fun to help with.
I moved things to my website instead of that journal because using forms seems easier when it comes to signups ;;
Hopefully this time I won't lose my hearing right before it happens
That seemed so rough!! ;;
It was disappointing, but I'll hopefully get to try this time
thanks for offering more options! My friend was in the same session and said she had a blast so...!
Of course!! I really love getting to run these.
they are super fun
damn i'd totally sign up for WoD but i'm gonna be out of town...
omg the forms ate some of the deets
I'm interested in the World of Darkness one,
falling scales is really great! charlie, it's the one you and andie and waffle are doing right now.
highlight from last night:
wow! kudos to you for doing all of this. i've been playing for years but this is a brilliant way to enable and teach and YOU'RE GREAT.
"i put my feet on the back of their seat."
"the girl rips her face away from the man's neck and ARTERIAL BLOOD GOES SPRAYING IN AN ARC OVER YOU."
"-- oh shit this is getting real immediately??"
(but no FOR REAL I ENJOY DMING A LOT and i've encountered so many people who want to play but are nervous about asking too many questions or, uh, what i hear the most - 'I don't want to hold the group back.')
It's hard to hold a good group back!
oooh i've done tabletop for a long time this is so cute and a nice way to get people into the medium
Yo if you're super familiar with tabletop and playing with newbies sounds like something you'd legitimately enjoy doing, please hit me up. Industry secret: I like to bring really good-natured folks in as "plants" sometimes to help make sure the story is smooth and fun for everyone.
Also, hm: I might change the November 28th to a World of Darkness game, since that's getting more interest than I anticipated.
i mean everything i do is ruthlessly gay but also newbie-friendly... i think last time I did a newbie game I said my ranger's favored terrain was 'beds of strangers' and the DM allowed it as a serious advantage.
Oh if we put in a form before it was working properly should we do it again just in case?
it should be working fine now! mostly some of my text got eaten on an info page, lmfao. Liah, right? I just put you into the WoD game!
Ah gotcha! I wasn't sure as I missed your comment on here before so I wasn't sure. Thanks for confirming c:
Absolutely!! I'm excited to play with y'all. c:
oh i can finally make some time
the 25th one will almost definitely work for me i can get up early for it on sunday
Hey! I don't have a mic but I'd like to listen in to one of the WoD games! Should I ping you closer to the time to get invited to the discord, or?
schematise: Yes please! If you want to signup as "listening in" I can add you to the list and ping you. c:
also, do you expect us to already have characters written up?
can i be tattertot's long lost modern day edgy ancestor
Mayalex: nope! there will be premades available to folks.
premade characters and you'll have license to do what you want with personalities/backstories/etc!
oh right, forgot about that lmao
codebrown: yes but only if he has umlauts in his name
There are six "official" spots left open, but please sign up as an alternate if you're interested! I've had to use at least one alternate in every session I've run.
id love to do one of these
wait im a fucking idiot i signed up for the wrong date
oh yay my Geneva is gonna play
Signed up
/crosses fingers for the game Saturday morning and signs up
I could attempt the one on the 22nd, but I'd be in a hotel with notoriously bad wifi and also supposed to be meeting with someone XD
i will poke and see if there's anything here i can fit in... might have to wait til winter break tho; is this a monthly sort of thing?
shibes ah ye these have all passed... next month! although i'll probs also need discord 101 before then
Oh man. I’m gearing up to DMing my first game, so if any more come up I’d love to play or watch. My spell knowledge is thin af
i'm doing mostly only games by request in december, since it's such a busy month for me and everyone else -- but those are open to anyone who wants to play them! i'm just taking dec off from the actual scheduling. i'll do an open plurk about this shortly!!
if not, then definitely january i could do something in the earlier times!
did the Nov 22 one get cancelled? I was never contacted with details on starting that session, but I was active and marked as available on discord...
flashily: oh! yes, sorry, i believe you were the only person not to cancel
okay. XD I'll just keep an eye out for something in January.
so sorry about that!! I was hit with a bunch of cancellations for both it and the Sunday game, and didn't really have many alternates for either
I'm sorry i missed contacting you, that was my bad!!
