Did anyone predict that this kind of plot could have existed in this series? Splitting one person into two people with different facets of a personality?

Rachel is probably the Animorph with the greatest range of personality - not that they don't all have a full range of emotions, because they definitely all do, but because her "outer limits" are so wide, between sheer rage and exhilaration and utter terror

In that way, Rachel's probably the best candidate for this sort of plot - but having two Rachels around comes with a lot of problems!

I actually remember that this idea was brought up on the official Animorphs site at the time years before the book was written

Except it was suggested for MARCO.

I do like Rachel being the one for this book but at the same time, I wonder what two Marcos might be like.
