so I get this call from mom telling me she's stranded on the side of the road and that the fire marshall insisted she stay the hell put due to the extreme fire danger and the sky was basically gray midday due to all the smoke --

and it was almost 100 and my grandmother has major respiratory issues and uh ... yeah. It was a total disaster waiting to happen, but I was close enough to pick them up within 30 and bring them home while the truck was fixed

but the lady at the surgeon's office was really nice about it when I explained the likely situation, and said she'd try it again tomorrow.
