not in a long while but yes
That's what my new doc just prescribed for me. I've never taken any antidepressant before. Can I ask what you thought of it?
years ago. It was horrible for me, but I was the exception. I was the one it caused cycling between manic and depressed. Never really was manic before that. Most people don't have that reaction though
What's the generic on that? If you have it handy?
it didn't work particularly well for me, but almost everyone has to try a couple of different things before they find the right one. it didn't cause any massive side-effects, it just didn't help much. Of course, I was also not on birth control at the time, so out-of-balance hormones or a low dose could have contributed to that.
I'm now on a slightly higher dose of a different medicine that works very well
it was ok for me. It caused me to yawn constantly and something else that I can't remember now.
Thanks for the info guys.
I tried that, but it didn't work well. I don't remember any problems though. Good luck!
Fluoxetine. Was on it for years. It helped me enormously, but I went off it after several years because of escalating side effects. Gotta go, but will be glad to talk later about it.
I've been taking it for 20 years. It's a
serotonin reuptake inhibitor It works on the actual physical nerves. Sometimes depression is caused by a physical malfunction, not necessarily emotional factors.
I haven't been on prozac but I have been on tons of different anti-depressants, you may see results right away but it can take 4-6 weeks to take effect, so keep an eye on how you're feeling over that time.
Java and Lisa said most of what I was going to say, but I can add in that Prozac is nice insofar as it has a long half-life in the body, so if you're somebody who has trouble with remembering medications at a specific time, it can smooth out the bumps
I took it for 10 years. It worked very well for me. The first few weeks can be rough with side effects, but you can get through it..
I took it for a while and developed a very rare side effect: my blood didn't clot quickly any more. Also, it took me about 6 wks to notice the effect, but it probably saved my life. Also, the effects lasted for a very long time - years - after I stopped taking it. And if you miss a dose or two after you've been taking it, it's no big deal if you restart.
No need to double up or anything.
