these boys are too dumb for each other
emil's too dumb for a lot of things
mob tries but he is also too dumn
typo hilariously unintentional but I'll take it
Lalli isn't ready for a son. Or even a little brother.
LALLI IS THE FAMILY BABY and honestly it shows
even though he lost most of his family
mob is... the older brother.... shjdf
GOSH I would love a Ritsu, maybe someday, still gotta try and enable one
also man actually RPing a character that has a more basic view of gender roles
"why do you think that" "......uhh. I don't know?" mob
Lalli the incidental feminism coach
wouldn't be his first! Reigen instructed him very carefully to not hit women, and then a woman beating the dog snot out of him told him that he could hit her back (where she said something to the effect of "I'm just as bad, I'm beating a child". Tsuchiya you're so based)
I AM APPARENTLY NOT ALL HERE THIS MORNING
you didn't just make a girl cry, you're making EVERYONE cry
HIS LIFE IS REALLY TRAGIC AT TIMES..
their traumas and stunted response to them really makes them quite the pair
lalli and mob are surprisingly harmonious lmao wow
It's like...a weirdly zen feeling
when they started fighting but now are like "I get u"
I MEAN...that's part of why Lalli was fighting against him
He saw just enough of himself to be frustrated, and he wants to "correct" him the way people have corrected him over time because that seems like the thing to do
But when it's casual stuff that really harms no one and let's them both fall into that comfortable lull, what's wrong with that?
plus he was straight up jealous
HOW CAN HE BE THIS POWERFUL...and still make mistakes, does that make his mistakes worse??? a mystery
Mob isn't projecting as much, he's mostly seeing Lalli as someone that's a bit easier to talk to than most people, and who might have a better idea on how to handle spirits than he does
he's still deciding on that front but otherwise thinks Lalli is fine
and probably a better support structure
oh yeah absolutely, Mob has a fantastic support structure and he has literally experienced what his life would be like without them
Lalli has three people in his life and he's still a complete mystery to all of them, plus one of them hits
The fact that Emil jumped from "weird messy Swede" to "WOW...I'M PRETTY SURE WE'RE FRIENDS" immediately is really indicative of how little positive interaction he usually has with people
I need to read this comic
It's really good for a while and most people aren't as salty as I am about things these days lmao, so it's a good time
I can reasonably say that mp100 is good all the way through, it's been absolutely charming to watch ONE improve as an artist
plus it's...weirdly easy to binge? Maybe not quite as much anymore, but
I can binge a lot of stuff tbf
GOSH THOUGH every time I look at how much ONE has worked to improve his style the more I love him
good job ONE ilu keep fighting!!
one of the early chapters (around ch 9?)
most recent chapter, 98.9 or some silly shit
he's not a skilled/trained artist but I'm so happy to see the growth every time I look
and god damn does he have excellent composition skills
the composition here is so good?? it really makes the broccoli look fucking huge
yeah, it's very methodical and expressive, too
there's cute as fuck extra pages like this too, ONE was so excited about opm getting an anime and I think getting MP100 made into one too just blew him away
I GET REAL EMOTIONAL ABOUT THIS ARTIST LIKE. He spent an entire year doing nothing but working and doing overtime so he could get enough savings to support himself (and I think he has a family?) so that he could try for one year to actually produce stuff as a manga artist
and if he struck out he decided that he was going to quit, since at this point he was pretty no-name and only had a really small fan base
then Yusuke Murata basically dragged him into popularity by redrawing One Punch Man in his own style, which is like the top of the industry right now
I'm so happy Studio BONES looked at MP100 and went "this is real good stuff" and didn't try to change his style, they just emulated it with more accurate anatomy and with as many little nods to the manga as possible
I'M REAL EMOTIONAL BC EVERYTHING ABOUT MP100 IS EVERYONE'S PASSION PROJECT
it's ONE's more serious attempt at storytelling, and Studio BONES clearly loves it to bits because they absolutely spoil this show with super fun art techniques, the unconventional style, and of course great references
like
this screenshot
referencing this manga cover, which wouldn't be anywhere else
bc the mp100 manga covers are weirdly artistic in a way since they kind of allude to what's coming but it's never a direct reference
anD THIS IS HOW I KEEP GOING ON RANTS ABOUT MP100 JFC I
I LOVE IT A LOT I'VE NEVER LOVED A SHOW THIS MUCH... SOBS...
but yes I highly recommend watching the anime and if you enjoy it, possibly even reading the manga. The series is extremely well written with really endearing and funny characters, and ONE has that natural talent for throwing people for a little bit of a loop
especially for people who are used to the way anime sticks to tropes? There's a couple moments where he just comedically kicks the expected outcome right in the face
or even really endearingly like
they picked a good end for season 1, it was a great moment that they did a great job escalating into a climax, it was a GREAT take on it
it's a shounen with a message of nonviolence it's really excellent??
in mp100 you can use violence to handle things but 99% of the time it just escalates the problem
like. GOSH. I can't explain more without spoilers but???
speaking of the nonviolence thing, I feel like I should mention that LALLI IS FULL OF SHIT he would be terrified and distraught if presented with a situation where he had to kill someone, even if there was no other choice
like, he's a good little collier so he'd do it, but
He can't block out his feelings in practice, just assumes he can because that's what you're Supposed To Do and his emotions aren't understood by 95% of people, so they probably won't go haywire when it counts like with others!!!
Mob handles violence pretty well by this point in the manga?? Mostly because by now he's had a few experiences that are like
"ok I have Seen Some Shit and nearly died like four times, I can handle this much"
Animals are a little different, especially since he's experienced with guiding their spirits, but like...people... what does he do with them ever
he's had a situation where literally no one could handle the danger of the situation and learned that sometimes, since he has the power he has, there's no choice but for him to step forward
and putting himself in a situation he hates is less important than protecting what he cares about
the fight with Touichirou is a hell of a fight of Mob having to wrestle with what exactly to even feel when he's in that situation
but Mob's learning to not block his emotions as much and he's smiling and crying more without having to reach an explosive state and I'm so proud of him jshdbfsdhsdfjhs
