The fine is $650! This is more than I earn a WEEK!
I know this is such a mess D:
I'm worried I'll have to pay the fine...that's money I need to save for my apartment!
I'm not sure there's a way to get out of that one
No they wouldn't let me out of my speeding ticket, despite my clean record.
Now that's on there...they probably think I've suddenly become a shit driver.
I mean rego doesn't have too much to do with driving skill
It's so much money...To say nothing of the $900 I have to pay to register the car
I don't know if I should tell my parents about this or not...
I also don't know why my luck is so horrible right now! D: I can't do anything right it seems
I can't really tell you if you should tell your parents or not, but thats a big chunk of change
The only reason to tell them is maybe they'll lend me the money to pay (although I'd need to pay them back obviously). But because I've been saving lots of money for the apartment I actually have enough. Maybe I should just spare them the agravation
I wonder why rego costs so much... that seems a bit absurd
you can buy a car for that much
Oh well that's not just the rego.
The rego is $240 but the CTP insurance is $724.
The scary thing is, is had I had an accident last week I wouldn't have been insured! D:
if you have a digital calander, maybe you could set reminders so it doesn't happen again?
For sure.
They should have kept the stickers...you used to have stickers on your car that told you when the rego expired.
Although sometimes people still forgot
people used to try to nick them too
Really? But they had the specific details of the car on them (number plate, make etc)
yeah but cops just eyeballed the sticker as they were going past they didn't have automatic scanners or computers in cars
if you had the right colour you could get by for a bit
Oh.
All the same.
Plus this totally fucks up tomorrow - I was supposed to arrange to go see my grandparents with the little bro, but unless he can come and pick me up I won't be able to get there.
guess the great australian public transport system can't help?
Also...I usually go to my parents house on Sunday after church - I have no idea how I'll manage that without a car :/ That might be why I have to tell them. Or just make up an excuse for not going over.
Well technically I COULD use the buses to get the grandparents place but it'll take two buses
And I'd probably have to leave as soon as I got there to get to work on time! (At least I can get to work relatively easily...)
Getting to work on Monday though poses a whole heaps of problems.
Do I take the car to the mechanic in the morning and leave it there (but getting from the mechanics to Mrs S's place will be difficult as its not on a bus route)?
re: grandparents, ask your bro then
But I can't really do it AFTER I finish with Mrs S because I have a shift at the library in the afternoon and I don't think I'll have enough time between them to get home, get the car, take it to the mechanic's get it checked, get it registered....
Although I can do the registration online I think?
All the same.
dunno about the car, forbes is much quicker to navigate :l
Well the little bro is good for tomorrow (depending on what the grandparents say).
Is that 900 per year to register your car?
Well it's $242, but you have to get insurance too and that's $742. (I paid for that yesterday)
And you pay the insurance all at once? It's not monthly?
Yep. I think that's how it's usually done. It's a bit of a weird system because there's two types of insurance, the Compulsary Third Party one which everyone has to get in case they crash into someone (it covers damage to other cars/people) and Comprehensive insurance (which covers you/your car)
You have to get the Compulsary one in order to register your car.
And as far as I know everyone always pays it upfront. Because it's so expensive some people don't buy Comprehensive insurance, but that can backfire for example if you scrap your car on a pole in the parking lot.
Without Comprehensive Insurance I would have to pay for that repair all on my own. (You can pay that monthly I think)
But because since I got my car second hand the expiry date of the two insurances don't match up. You can transfer the Compulsory one but not the Comprehensive one.
So I've got the Compulsory one due in March and the Comprehensive due in November
AND AN ELECTRONIC organizer for you
Also, a wristband to attach it to you at all times
I do in the form of my phone, but the problem is I don't remember to put stuff in it until I fuck up. And then it's kind of too late...
Put it in AS SOON AS YOU GET IT.
mine sends me notifs. a lot of them if I tell it too
I'm going to start sending you daily pings asking you if there is anything important to do today
Awww
thanks Spy.
Although I should note I never got the registration renewal slip from the Roads people. They never updated my address on their system despite me doing so for my license.
