So, as a recap even though I plurked some of this back when it happened. Back in the start of December I lost my job when the parent company sold my division off to it's managers, who then decided they could only keep 10% of the staff.
This was just days before I was to take a vacation to drive 12 hours to see my spouse graduate with her B.S. in CompSci.
Still took the trip, it was planned after all, and part of that plan was bringing her and some of her stuff back down to Cincinnati with me. And that happened. The whole holiday season was pretty hectic, with another trip north to pack the last of her things, visit friends and family, and some surprises
Like her car taking an extra four days in the shop when we were supposed to go 8 hours away to see her family.
Or coming back to cinci to find that someone broke into my car.
Anyway, even after holidays when things were winding down, 100% of my time was spent with her as much as possible. We had been living long distance for three years before this, and we would soon be separated again
Two weeks ago she left, and drove from Ohio to California to start a new job. I'm still here in Cinci, tying up loose ends
I'm stuck in a lease for 7-8 more months unless I can get out, so right now my goals are, in no particular order: find a job in Cali near her, find a way to get out of this lease (sublet or something, gotta talk with the leasing company), get our piles of stuff packed to move, and then drive to Cali myself
I would love to point at all this and say "see, this is why I've been barely around plurk, I'm so busy!"
Truth is though there's been more than a shitload of video games, TV, and staring blankly at walls trying to find a sense of motivation
Right now, I think it's coming back a bit though. I've got things to do, but there's also things I want to add to my list, like plurking more, and even getting back into RP
So hopefully I'll be more apparent. I've always been around during all this, but I've mostly been lurking. Even if it's just a "good morning" thing I'm going to try and plurk more often.
oh man, that's really hectic, but you made it!!!
the west coast will welcome u soon
having a bit of motivation come back is always a good feeling too
Thanks. It'll be weird to be back on the west coast, and somewhere with way more heat than anywhere I've lived before to boot. It's only mid-state (Folsom), but still.
yeah i hear ya on that. i'm still kinda blugh about the heat, but trying to survive in colder weather states like alaska is already too much for me hahaha
Heh, I grew up in the cold. Six years in Alaska as a kid, 18 years in Michigan's upper peninsula...
If your wife already has a place in cali, I'd say just up and leave your apartment once everything is ready
