Is the locator placing pokemon specifically at nearby stops for anyone else or am I just late to the party again

Yes. This is replacing the footprints that they had a while ago, the pokemon with the grass behind it still say 'find this pokemon in the wild' or something and you just have to wander back and forth and look

Ooh nice! Yes, I finally managed to test it where once I caught all the Pokemon listed for a certain stop, the "in the wild" ones showed up again
