Checking on the net for Irish recipes. Basically, it's Irish if it has beer in it.

There are English recipes that have beer in them. Pies that are made with beer, for example. Ireland isn't the only nation that cooks with beer. Beamish in north east England brews stout too.

This is true. But just about every recipe I have come across has beer in it. To be fair, these are not actually irish reipes; they are what commercial websites have decided to call Irish.

That sounds typical. I think my Northern Irish sister-in-law and her mother could probably give better examples.

Yup, I've just been given an entirely different version of Irish stew by a proper Irish man.

There's probably something like that near me, in Liverpool...the "unofficial capital of Ireland". There are lots of ppl of Irish descent there.
