I would love if like some electors pulled off a protest by not voting as pledged and then trump supporters/republicans are mad because rawr "the establishment" versus trump and it ends up byebye college

the twist: that was what the faithless electors planned all along and now we get to go by popular vote

(I'm not going to count on it because both recent times it's been a democrat winning the popular vote but losing, but I think it'd be a good thing in getting people more involved outside of swing states.)
